Rogerio Chumbinho - Senior Project Manager
Rogerio Chumbinho is . Rogério retired from the Portuguese Navy some 10 years ago after nearly 15 years in the Portuguese Hydrographic Office where he worked in Hydrography, Oceanography and Marine Data Management. Rogerio was the first Director of the Hydrographic Office’s Data Centre, setting up and managing the centre from its inception until his retirement. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, USA, and a Degree in Hydrographic Engineering from the Hydrographic Office.
After leaving the service, he worked for several years in the Portuguese Continental Shelf Delimitation Program and started his own business on location-based Decision Support Systems and GIS, with projects in Portugal and abroad. Rogerio was also Associate Professor of Fluid Mechanics and Dynamical Oceanography in Lisbon’s Universidade Lusofona until some years ago, where he was actively involved in the development of the Ocean Sciences curriculum, teaching several Ocean Sciences courses and supervising MSc students, mostly in ocean modelling and physical oceanography subjects.
